New BIOS for iPro Genius family

Copeland Controls, with a focus on continuously improving its products and meeting market demands, is pleased to announce that the new BIOS version 2024101700 for the iPRO Genius family is now available.

The update introduces security and functional improvements and is applicable to all the iPro Genius standard models (4DIN,10DIN) in enhanced e full versions. It is recommended to download the new BIOS version and test it with your applications.

1. Important security notice

At Copeland, we prioritize the security and safety of our customers and their systems. We want to emphasize the importance of implementing security best practices when using our devices to protect against potential security threats.

This version, among other features and fixes, introduces improvements against potential security threats that may arise when iPro is exposed to the internet. However, please adhere to all instructions and specifications included with the device manual, and follow security best practices, including but not limited to the following:

•       Never exposing iPro to the broader internet
•       Configuring your firewall to restrict access to administrative protocols, like SSH
•       Configuring your network to restrict inbound and outbound communications to and from the programmable controller
•       Ensuring default account passwords are updated and all passwords align with industry best practices
•       Configuring and enabling HTTPS for web-based traffic but not exposing the programmable controller’s web interface to the broader internet

2.    Updates from the latest BIOS 2021071500

The new version of the BIOS introduces significant enhancements to optimize the usability of the iPro, offering a more intuitive experience and ensuring seamless integration with advanced technologies:

More User-Friendly Update Process: Simplified interfaces and immediate feedback provide an intuitive and streamlined experience for managing update operations.
Advanced Integration with Modbus-Compatible Devices: New functionalities have been introduced to improve integration with Modbus-compatible tools, ensuring greater compatibility and easier configuration.
Improved Management of the Visotouch Keyboard: The implementation of COV (Change Of Value) protocol enhances the keyboard’s responsiveness and efficiency.
Introduction of the MQTT Protocol: Designed to facilitate integration with cloud and IoT systems. For detailed information on this feature, please contact our dedicated team directly.

This release reflects a commitment to delivering enhanced functionality and seamless connectivity for modern technological needs.

3. Availability
The new BIOS will be available on all our iPro Genius standard codes starting from January 2025.
It is strongly suggested to download the new BIOS from the iPro academy website and test it with your applications
